LinguisticServices failed using LanguageTool

With some difficulty I could install LanguageTool 5.2 fromhttps://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/languagetool In LibreOffice 6.4.6.2. I work in Ubuntu 20.04

I executed sudo apt-get install libreoffice-java-common which seems to be required.
Language tool seems to be installed Ok if I go to LibreOffice menu → Tools → Extension manager

But when I try to check my text I get the error message: “LinguisticServices failed! LanguageTool can not be started!” And LibreOffice hangs after that. I have to force to quit.

What happened and how can this be solved?

sudo apt-get install libreoffice-java-common

This does not install a Java Runtime Environment. This package bundles (on Ubuntu) some LibreOffice files, which require a JRE. Hence check Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Advanced for correct JRE settings and assure you have a JRE installed on your system (Hint: sudo apt install openjdk-11-jre)

I executed sudo apt install openjdk-11-jre and got the message
openjdk-11-jre is already the newest version (11.0.9.1+1-0ubuntu1~20.04).

Then I checked in LibreOffice menu -> Tools -> Options -> Advanced
in the section Java Options I have the message “Java runtime environment (JRE) already installed.”
So JRE seems to be correctly installed.

@anon73440385 Two questions. First: I did get your reply by mail but does not see this in this thread. I do not know why. Second, you said try install LanguageTool version 5.1.3 this seems the last stable version. This was very easy to install. But in the previous version I saw 4 a box of 4 icons to start the check. But could not find these. In my text I copied an error sentence from https://languagetool.org/ which was detected from LanguageTool. I checked my text but this error, which LanguageTool could detect online, was not found.
