Linking cells in two different spreadsheets

Hi Everybody,
I’m new here because I ran into an issue I could not solve on my own.

I have two separate spreadsheets and would like to link a cell in one spreadsheet to a different cell in the other spreadsheet. I tried it by just typing = and then selecting the cell in the other spreadsheet. It copied the data just fine, however, when the data is changed in the first spreadsheet, it does not update in the second spreadsheet.

When I open the spreadsheet, a warning appears “Security Warning: Automatic update of external links has been disabled.” There is a box to the right that says “Allow updating”. I click on it and nothing happens.

Any Ideas?

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi PaulieT, the changed file has to be saved.

Thanks for your suggestion. It sort-of works however, to use it I need to “allow” the link each time I open the spreadsheet.

Paul
