Linux vs Windows 10 Libreoffice

I have been using LibreOffice Windows for many years but, now that Windows supports native Linux apps, have been wondering if there is a qualitative difference between the two versions. Does anyone have any suggestions or discussion?

They are virtually identical ! The main difference I found was a slight incompatability between some fonts. On my system, the LO Win10 default font is Arial, which is not present under Linux. I had not realised until I spent some time ‘tidying’ a spreadsheet to make it visually appealing on my Win 10 machine. I then viewed it on my Linux machine, and the fonts did not fit ! Easily solved by setting the default font on BOTH to Liberation Sans. Microsoft proprietary fonts like Arial (known as ttfs) can be installed under Linux, but as not everyone has them, I find it is better to stick with Liberation Sans, which is available under both OSs

Thanks a lot for your response. I had guessed that the Linux version would have some performance edge. So, now should I switch to Linux or take the easy way and stay with Windows?

It’s up to you. During the first time work parallel in both OSes. As a “newbie” you surely will miss some features of Windows in Linux. - I often have to work on different OSes (W7, W10, WXP, Linux), but you can rely on Libreoffice that the results are mostly compatible…
