list numbering problem

crappy win 10 laptop. Upgrade from 7.0.6 to 7.1.4.2 did not solve the problem. It is just one file which I got from someone running the MO app. tried stripping the formatting and rebuilding the file. Can’t figure out the problem. It is skippy a number. Is there a trouble shooting guide for some like this?

Have you tried right-clicking on the offending paragraph and from the context menu selecting Bullets and numbering > Continue previous numbering?

If that doesn’t make a difference then right-click and select Bullets and numbering > Restart numbering

It is possible that there are two lists, the second one starting two numbers beyond the previous numbering, e.g. numbering starts at 4, the above two actions should resolve it.

Ctrl+M will strip direct formatting from a list.

Have a look in the sidebar under list styles, select the entire list and double-click a list style to change it all to that formatting.

Edited, I copied all the text. deleted it all. Pasted all to a raw text editor. Copied it again. Pasted it back in the doc and the hidden format/style was removed numbering is correct now.
