LO Calc "Print to File..." omits columns in resulting PDF

I am trying to create a PDF of my spread sheet via the “Print to File…” option.

I can create the PDF, but one column is missing on all pages except the first page. That is, the first page looks fine, but all subsequent pages are missing one column.

I’ve tried different page sizes including the architecture page sizes such as ARCH B and ARCH C which are more than large enough to contain the content. Moreover, I’ve selected landscape mode.

You would have a smaller file size and links would be retained if you instead did File > Export as PDF.

  • You should define your print range, especially if your columns are not contiguous. Click Format > Print ranges > Edit. Select the Print Range you want included in the printout. Do you need to repeat a row or column if the sheet splits across pages? Define the row or column also. OK.
  • Click Format > Page style > Sheet to define any scaling that you want.
  • Click File > Export as PDF and adjust any of the settings there. OK

OK, success. I modified the page size in Format → Page Style → Page
But I’m still confused on why this worked.

Previously (before posting my question), I had set the page under File → “Print…” → “Properties…”

I selected the “Use only paper size from printer preferences” and set the combo boxes as follows:
Paper size = ARCH B (12" x 18")
Orientation = landscape
“ARCH B” paper size

The dialog is here:

It seems that despite me selecting “Print to file…” it is using print parameters for my Canon printer, not the ones I’ve set in the dialog box.

And I just tried it again after retaining the settings under Format → Page Style → Page that I used to successfully create the PDF. So when using File → Print it seems that settings on physical printers are used even if I select “Print to File…”
Also, settings in the Format → Page Style are ignored when using File → Print…
