I installed Libreoffice and libreoffice help if d:\program files\libreoffice. The C’\ drive is reserved for windows only or the few things that insist they be there.
I’m about ready to toss it.
What happens when you call for help?
I use the Afrikaans version of LibreOffice. There is no Afrikaans Help file available. The standard English version will do fine.
I have installed the standard offline help file, but cannot access it. It would be nice to have an option in the setup options from within LibreOffice to choose the standard English offline help version. I do not always have an internet connection when using LO.
My native language is English (USA) and the offline help I installed is English (USA).
I really hate web pages as help files. I find that the web files are terrible for looking for the type of information I need.
“Threats” like “I’ll toss it” are absolutely useless.
By default the offline help is seen as a kind of program needing an install, and the default location for all help trees (for probably different UI languages) is relative to the folder for the program files themselves. Assuming you start in the folder where soffice.exe (Win e.g.) resides, each language’s help system goes to ..\help and consists of files in a folder placed there and named after the language.
The size of a typical extracted help is about 20 MiB as compared to around 600 MiB for the rest of LibO (3%). Where’s the problem?

Did everybody notice that the offline help since V6.0 consists of html files like the online help?
The install extracts them from the .msi (in Win e.g.) to the respective local folder, but they are displayed in the system’s default html browser.
Sorry @Lupp, I don’t think it makes sense in a response to the questioner to ask a question to “everbody”.
I included some related info because there were claims about not working offline help by users who had missed the facts I mentioned. Getting help in a browser window they thought it was online help.
The words “Did everybody notice” were meant as a rhethoric phrase introducing to the information I gave, not as announcing an actual question.
