lock conditional ranges

working with LO Version: 6.3.6.2
on: Mac OS X 10.15.5

I created a conditional format for a range (in my case R4:AC120). When I copy/paste a cell within the range to a place outside it, the new cell is added to the range.

I tried to fix the range by setting $R$4:$AC$120, to fix the format to specific cells. However, the dialog for setting/changing the conditional formatting keeps on silently deleting the “$” sign from the range.

I hoped to get the behaviour that conditional formatting ws not copied along with copy/paste!

How do I get the intended behaviour?

Conditional formatting is treated like direct attributes. If you pasted a range including its CF, you can clear it with Ctrl+M (default for Clear Direct Formatting). If your unconditional formatting is completely based on cellstyles, it will not be afflicted.
Otherwise it’s complicated.
