Looking for a tutorial

I have gotten interested in bookbinding, which has led me to downloading stories from Project Gutenberg and creating books from them. The text is not formatted so I have to figure out how to deal with styles and things of that nature, which is not exactly intuitive.

As this is something that I will continue to do in the future it is best to find some means of learning these things properly, as opposed to trying to figure things out on the fly.

Can anyone point me to a tutorial or other means of learning these things so that the next book I put together I will come from a point of knowing what I am doing, as opposed to poking around in the dark in the hopes that I will be able to figure things out?

Thanks for your help -

george

Thanks, looks like a couple of excellent reference materials.

I recommend you read Bruce Byfield’s excellent Designing with LO available in the documentation page (scroll down a bit). This book explains the logic behind styles.

Then read the Writer Guide to see where all controls are “hidden”.
