MAC OS - How to open Base reports based on queries in standalone

Hello everybody!

I am using a MAC OS X 10.11.6 and LibreOffice version 6.0.5.2.

I am was reading this link text. I run the macro and start to fill the dropdown fields, but the desktop field is always blank. So I need to select some file to add in that field. (I choose any LibreOffice file in this situation)

After pushing the Create Shortcut button, the shortcut creates an invisible file, and when I tried to open it, it only opens as a note. It is not open the real file.

I am editing to better explain the issue.

I am referring to @koolninja comments. I downloaded the DB shortcuts and ran the macro. As you can see, shortcut location is blank, and the only way to include a path is selecting an existing file. So, using an existing file on this, after pushing Create Shortcut button, the file created not work.

This needs more information. It appears you are using the macro by @Kridtbandit. Have you modified it as stated in the comments? Also there is nothing mentioned anywhere in that post related to drop downs. What is this drop down stuff all about? Please be as specific as possible.

You need to be a bit more careful on your references. The comments were NOT made by @koolninja but rather by myself. Also the download file (extension is more precise) was DB Doc Shortcut. by Roberto Benitez.

Unfortunately, the referred to post was mode almost two years ago and things don’t seem to work the same. The original test was done on a Linux Xubuntu install with an older LO than currently used. Have no idea even at that time if it worked on Mac. Just tried on Mint 18.3 with LO v6.0.5.2 and was able to have the dialog produce the appropriate command but creating the Bash file was a failure - it was blank. Using the created command and generating my own file it worked. However trying to connect to the standalone document was another problem.

I have tried (recently on Mint 18.3) & successfully used the macro on the mentioned post under the answer by @Kridtbandit and had no problem (again look at my comments there as there are a couple of lines to be deleted). This is a much better solution at this point and you should try it.
