Hi
I have university work to do and we have maximum number of pages. When I do my text in libre, with a 2,5 margin on each side, I have 12 pages. I save in docx. When I open it with MS office, it’s 14 pages. The footer seem to be bigger and take more place. But I’m not sure and I don’t see why.
What is your operating system and LO/MSO version? Can you post some screenshots showing the differences? Details of the metrics that MSO is displaying would also help. I conducted a basic test using LO v4.1.2.2 under Linux and MS Word 2011 under MacOS 10.6.8 with 15 pages of text. The margin and footer position appears to be preserved OK.
Libre office : Version 4.0.2.2 (Build ID: 400m0(Build:2))
I’m on ubuntu-gnome 13.04
I go on the university server with remmina and the admin has disabled system properties for us
I found that for some reason the margins are 3,8 cm in word (bottom), which isn’t my 2,5 I have set and that works in libre
Word displays the information differently from LO. In LO there is a bottom page margin (e.g., 72pt/1in/25mm) and a footer line height (e.g., 18pt/0.25in/6.25mm) and a distance between the footer line and the main text block (e.g., (e.g., 18pt/0.25in/6.25mm). Word (from memory) has a total bottom area amount (e.g., 108pt/1.5in/37.5mm) and a “margin” that includes the footer line (e.g., 90pt/1.25in/31.25mm). Are you certain this is not what you are seeing?
