I would like to know if the “Match” function can be used to search an array (such as B1:Z100), or an entire column ( such as B ) and if said column/row/array can be located on a different sheet in the same ( or different ) workbook.
Hello,
may be LibreOffice Help - Calc Function MATCH answers your question:
Help states:
LookupArray is the reference searched. A lookup array can be a single row or column, or part of a single row or column.
(such as B1:Z100)
=> No, B1:Z100
consists of multiple columns
an entire column ( such as B )
=> yes, column B
is a single column
located on a different sheet in the same workbook
=> yes, if the (single) array is correctly referenced
located on a different sheet in different workbook.
=> yes, if the (single) array in different workbook is correctly referenced
If any of the “yes” answers doesn’t work, I’d consider this a bug ( but it may be a bug of the documentation ;-). Of course I’ve tested all 4 answer and they are working for me using:
Version: 7.1.0.2 / LibreOffice Community, Build ID: 53d68d29d90fd16448721a60aad68c28ff0809f5
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.3; UI render: default; VCL: kf5
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US, Calc: threaded
Hope this answer your questions
