Math formulas broken after upgrade

Hi,

I installed LibreOffice 4.2.7.2 few days ago. I haven’t used Math for about one year. I just didn’t need it. Now probably after several LibreOffice upgrade (like 4.2.X) I opened Math document and I see documents totally broken. Instead of “+”, “-”, “<”, “>” characters I see telephone characters, letter character and other strange characters.

I thought it is font problem, so I changed all fonts to Arial, but the problem is the same.
See print-screen: https://i.imgur.com/cFlWrtN.png

Is this some bug or is there some setting I can influence this strange characters?

P.S. I can’t upgrade to 4.3.X, because LibreOffice is totally crashing every few second. See: Writer 4.3 crashes when coping text

Regards

If 4.3.x is crashing, something else is off.

I completely agree. It got to be some other problem (maybe bug).

Make sure the OpenSymbol font is installed, see fdo#76239 and its duplicates. When you make an administrative installation, you will find the file opens___.ttfin folder Fonts. Or get it from http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/extras/source/truetype/symbol

That’s it. I did the following:

  1. Click on http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/plain/extras/source/truetype/symbol/opens___.ttf to download a file.
  2. In Windows Explorer double click on downloaded font file and click Install button at the top of window.
  3. Open LibreOffice Math and type in formula. Problem solved.

Thanks a lot for this. I was really in rush and I needed an instant help.
