I have some docx file created under win7 use MS office which contains math equation typed by mathtype.
When I open these docx using Libreoffice writer under ubuntu linux, the math equation appears correct. But when I double click the math equation, I got “General OLE error”, I can’t edit the equation created by mathtype!!
What is wrong? What should I do to be able to edit the equation created by mathtype in Libreoffice writer under linux?
What is wrong is simple – MathType is not Linux software. Therefore, when you double-click an equation in LibreOffice for Linux, it doesn’t know which program created the equation, so cannot open its editor.
Per wikipedia, “MathType is a software application created by Design Science that allows the creation of mathematical notation for inclusion in desktop and web applications…[available for] Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows”
So: no support on Ubuntu.
