Maximum rows for label printing

Libreoffice version : 7.2.3.2
OS : Ubuntu 21.04
One Calc File have 409 rows, nothing special, none any configuration / macro etc.
I have created lables and using above .ods for lables. I am generating .pdf of the lables data. All is working fine, but there are only 398 rows data is showing as a lablel in the pdf.

My question is there any rows limit for lable printing or how do I get all 409 rows data in lable format in .pdf.

How is your question related to Writer as suggested by the tags?

It is where labels are generated. Calc is data origination which is linked to Base which is used by Writer.

How may records are in the Base table? How many are in he .odt? what labels are you using? does the 409 rows include header row or any blanks? And no, there is no maximum.

How many labels does a page take? And how did you create the Writer document? Does the Writer document consist of table cells or frames?

Let me elaborate more.

  1. I have one calc .ods file which have 409 rows. First row is column names. It is very simple .ods, none any setting. This file have postal addresses data. I need to convert this data in label format.

2.So I have created labels by using these options :
File–New–Labels
Database - Above .ods file. Table - Sheet1 and selected database fields one by one and sent them in label text area by clicking left arrow buttons.

Brand : Tower
Type : User 9.90 cm x 3.91 cm (2 x 12)

Now Click on Format tab and :
Horizontal Pitch : 10.10 cm
Vertical Pitch : 4.08 cm
Width : 9.90 cm
Height : 3.91 cm
Left Margin : 0.72 cm
Top Margin : 1.52 cm
Columns : 2
Rows : 12
Page width : 21 cm
Page Height : 52.61 cm

Now Click on Options :
Distribute : Entire Page

And Finally, click on New Document.
A new Untitled Writer page opens and it is showing 2x12 labels.
Now, Click on File–Print-- It asks “Your document contains address database fields. Do you want to print a form letter?”, I says Yes :

A new window Opens “Mail Merge”
Output Printer, File.
I Selected Printer and click ok.
A small popup windows opens and it says :
Popup Heading : Untitled
and its message is :
is being prepared for printing on
Untitled
Letter 17
and one cancel button and immediately after a big window “Print” comes :
I select Printer : Print to file
Include : Odd pages (Because there is one blank page after each page)
and Finally I click on Print to File… Button.
It asks location and name of PDF and labels generated in that PDF.

But, only upto 399 rows i.e. 398 rows data get printed in the pdf, not all 409 rows.

Where I am doing mistake, kindly help me.
or,
If I need to provide more details, kindly tell me.

Hello,

There is something incorrect with your measurements. If I use as is then I only get 398 labels. However, if I change to 2X10 rows, all print. All print also with a different Tower label - say one with 2X8:

Thanks for your reply. But there is nothing wrong with my measurement because till today, when there were around 385 rows, all rows were coming in the output, but today when I added couple of more rows and reached to 409, then output is only upto 399 rows (398 labels data). I don’t know what mystery is going on.

But, as you suggested, to opt different Tower label CIL-W111 Mailing Label, I worked fine and now I am getting all the rows.

Thanks for your reply and help @Ratslinger

Then I would recommend reporting as a bug here → Bugzilla

Before filing an issue, you could simply upload the Writer document. Keep the layout and database fields, remove confidential information.

Don’t see the need. The problem can be duplicated with the settings already given.

Hello,

Today did some more reviewing on this and now I have a different answer. This uses your settings:

and produces no blank pages. My understanding is you are creating a PDF. When the Mail Merge window opens, I have selected Output to File and NOT Printer:

Then selecting OK button it asks for a file name and you need to modify the filter for .pdf:

The resulting file has no blank pages and produces all items (end shown):

This is using your original specs with 2X12 labels.
