Menu items are grayed out

I need to crop a photo and the one thing I need in Draw is grayed out. I’ve tried what I’ve found online and nothing works.

Many other items on the menus are grayed out too. Why does this software have to be so difficult?

  • Have you selected the photo before attempting to crop it?
  • Is the photo on a locked layer? You will need to unlock the layer first.
  • Is the photo an OLE object?
  • Is your cursor inside a group that doesn’t include the photo? You will need to exit the group before trying to select the photo

The photo is the only layer, it is selected, I don’t know what OLE means and there is no group

I opened a photo and all I want to do is crop it. I don’t see any way to do that,

I FOUND IT! I just hadn’t figured out where to find the crop command and accidentally clicked on Format/Image and there it is!

Not intuitive at all but achieved what I was wanting to do,

So you did this?

  1. Open Draw
  2. Click Insert > Image, select image and click Open
  3. Select the image and either right click > Crop or click Format > Image > Crop?
