menu shortcut keys

Between v5.0.1.2 and 5.4.1.2, the sequence of alt-keystrokes to navigate the menus changed, which of course totally screws me in using the UI. The last time I checked on these issues, the assignment of these keystrokes was hardwired and not customizable, although one could cause a reassignment by changing the order in which items are shown in the menu, which is customizable.

I am primarily interested in the keystrokes required to achieve insert column and insert row. Is there any way for me to either customize those, or at least to get them back to be what they used to be?

I am interested in this general topic as well. This would be better titled as Menu Accelerator Keys. I would suggest removing the keyboard-shortcut tag and adding an accelerator-key and a Writer tag.

Hello,

You can assign Shortcut keys through the menu ‘Tools->Customize…’ on the ‘KeyBoard’ tab. You can find more on how to do this in the LO documentation. It is in the ‘Getting Started with LibreOffice’ section, Chapter 14. For documentation page - click here.

Your specific request will be under the Insert category on the Customize dialog.

This does not actually address the question. It also apparently doesn’t work for the function Recent Documents The Tools>Customize>Keyboard allowed me to set a short cut of Alt+Shift+R but it did not work.

@holy-harp,

Can’t explain why Recent Documents doesn’t work. Possible bug. Other items work such as 'Open` - changed from Ctrl-O to Ctrl-P, worked for me. Your comment on accelerator keys may be appropriate but I believe more difficult. Seems I did something like this in the past and it required changes in a file in the user profile. Wasn’t an easy solution as I recall.
