Happened to me as well, on Linux. @eddygoltz: please provide the necessary information: OS and version of LO, especially where you got it, like pre-installed on your Linux OS, or dld the original.

Google Docs is not Writer. It has its own format. It can import from various ones and convert to others. This means one conversion on import and one conversion on export. As with any conversion, there are compatibility issues because not all features have exact equivalents.
The problem here is not a hyphen markup but a complete error in translating some data.
