Modify page columns in such a way it doesn't take the whole page

My question is simple. Is it possible to modify page columns in such a way that the whole of the page is NOT separated into columns, just a part of it? So the upper part of the page flows normally, from left to right, while the lower has two different columns?

You need to use sections for that. For the first part, write on a normal page, then go to Insert → Section and set it to have the desired number of columns.
