More questions about version 24.x [update from 7.6.7.2]

I have more questions about version 24.x.

I have 7.6.7.2. When I click on update, it tells me that version 24.2.6 is available. Can I safely mix 7.6.7.2 files with 24.2.6 files or should I uninstall 7.6.7.2 & do a clean install of 24.2.6? I won’t lose any of the documents that I’ve created, right? I’ll just have to start from scratch on the recent documents listing, right?

I just checked the download section of Libre Office. The 7.X version is not even available for download anymore! Interesting!

24.2.x is the “normal” successor to 7.6.x. TDF board just decided to change the numbering scheme, adopting 2-digit year for the first part and month for the second one instead of the somewhat-obscure (for general audience) technical id. There is no tremendous gap between 7 and 24. You can now tell how up-to-date you are in your version.

There will be two yearly releases, one in February z.2 and one in August z.8.

Proceed just like you did in the past.

Since you didn’t mention your OS, I can’t give you any particular advice on how to proceed. If you’re under Linux, just trust your distro maintainers to sync the repository with upstream LO and wait for the “latest” release to bubble up.
