Multiple field autofill based on one input field

Hello all,

I am currently creating PDF forms with Writer (awesome tool!) and would like to know how I can get fields like the form number to be entered only once and have them automatically appear in designated areas/fields on every page.

We are not planning any database connection etc. We are running LibreOffice 7.3. Users use Adobe PDF-Reader for filling out forms.

Happy for any hint

  1. The fields must have the same names.
  2. You must allow duplicate field names when exporting to PDF (File → Export As → Export as PDF…).

PKG, thank you so much for helping out that fast!
Works like a charm :ok_hand:

Is there anything else that needs to be done or has it changed in recent versions? Just these two steps alone don’t seem to do the trick.

I have a doc with 3 fields, all named identically, and have the option to allow duplicate names enabled. The exported PDF does not auto-fill any of the fields, I still have to copy/paste the value into the fields I need it in every time a PDF needs to be filled out.

I was having difficulty with this as well but can confirm that PKG’s solution works. For anyone finding this doesn’t work I’ve noted Gnome Document Viewer (Evince 42.3) doesn’t seem to update the secondary field live, but does upon save.

To easily test if this is working cross platform, try copying and pasting the same field in a document. After exporting for pdf allowing duplicate field names try opening the pdf in Firefox.
