my computer has window 10, search only display a few odt can it display all?

I am using search on window 10 professional; when I type * .odt, I only get recent ones, less than six, at random. How can I find all .odt on this computer

If Windows 10 cannot search for files, it’s not something LibreOffice can fix :slight_smile:

Use the Filemanager. To search on the whole computer you have to place yourself in the directory “This PC”.

Otherwise, only the directory that is actively marked is searched.

@ophir - That’s really worth a new question :frowning:

It is a problem with Windows 10. It takes so long because it looks inside every file and you think it has finished when it is still struggling away. I use free program to search: Everything from Voidtools.com, seems safe, I ran it past an antivirus and had no red flags, it only looks at file names so is very fast. Every day gets a bit closer to Linux only

@ophir,

Instead of “*.odt” search for System.FileName:~=“odt”.
