My videos in Impress won't play after file transfer. Is there anything I can do about this?

My laptop recently had something wrong with it and the only way to save my files was to open them through Notepad and copy them to another laptop with a flash drive.

I can’t use PowerPoint anymore, so I switched to LibreOffice. But now the videos in my presentations won’t play. LibreOffice thinks that they’re images.

I get the feeling there’s nothing I can do to get my videos to work again, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your operating system will have a file manager which is the tool you need to use for copying files, rather than opening them in a ‘foreign’ program that is not designed to handle those types of file. If you still have the old laptop, I suggest you try copying them again using the file manager.

I opened some of my presentations in Powerpoint and the videos worked when I hit “Preview.” Is there a preview button anywhere in Impress?
