Navigation controls

Hello!

I just installed the last versions of Ubuntu and LibreOfffice and I am having navigating issues with Libre Office Writer.

I tried all advises in order to add controls (those two arrows that enable moving up and down when reading/editing a doc), but nothing happens. Is there any solution to this problem? Those two arrows (up and down) are needed to read/edit texts smoothly.

Thank you.

which means ?

and more generally please:

Hello!

My English isn’t the best, especially when it comes to software terms.

I spent more than three hours reading threads about navigating/scrolling issues, before opening this topic. Unfortunately, the issue isn’t resolved for me.

I want to add those arrows in Libre Office Writer (for scrolling up and down smoothly), but the answers I find in internet are not helping me.
Most of the answers say that I have to locate Form Navigation tool and from there try to add controls (for moving up and down). But once I open it, Form Navigation looks blurred (like in the picture I attached previously). Hence, I can’t add those scrolling arrows in the Libre Office Writer.

What you show above is not the "Form Navigator’, it is the Navigator.

You’re talking about “scrolling” or “moving”. This usually means moving the cursor position within text. You can do that with the mouse by clicking anywhere in your text or in the side (horizontal and vertical) scrollbars to scroll screenful by screenful.

But if you don’t want to leave the keyboard to grab the mouse and back (which accounts for too many hand movement), the arrow keys , , , will move the cursor one position in the designated direction and one screen up or down.

The Navigator offers other possibilities related to your document contents. Since it involves contents, the various categories are disabled (grayed out) until you have typed something. Headings lists your chapter, sub-chapter, … titles, i.e. paragraphs you have styled Heading n. You can guess what Tables and Images are. Don’t be abused by Sections (this is not what you think). A Writer section is a part of a page where the number of columns differs from the surrounding page. It is likely you won’t create sections until you master advanced Writer features.

I think I should take the mouse with me everywhere. That works the best, I guess.

I am just a little surprised, because when I had windows and LibreOffice those arrows were there (top right corner to move up, bottom right corner to move down). Now with Ubuntu no scrolling arrows in the LO Writer.

Is Vertical scrollbar selected (checked) in Tools | Options | LibreOffice Calc | View under the Window section?

Yes. I found it. Vertical scrollbar is checked. There is a thumb I move up and down to navigate my LO docs.

Even though the vertical scrollbar is checked and the thumb is visible, there are no scroll arrows to make reading/editing easier for me.

Do the scrollbar arrows appear in other programs? If not, it may be a setting in your desktop environment, e.g. the theme you are using.

I think that’s the explanation --I don’t see scroll arrows in other programs as well.

What theme should I switch to? Is it easy? I just installed the last version of Ubuntu.

Thank you a lot.
