Finishing a Glossary and need the first entry displayed in the left page header and the last entry displayed in the right page header. The text changes on every page, obviously. I’m in Win11, LO 24.222. I tried inserting a text box into the body of the page and then moving it up into the header (in the hopes it wouldn’t repeat), but it simply disappears. Is creating a new page style for every page the only solution? Glossary sample
Please edit your question (don’t provide additional information in a comment; click on … below the question then on the “pencil” icon to enter edit mode) to give more details about the contents of the document. Essentially, how did you format it? Which paragraph styles have you used for you glossary entries? How do they look like? E.g. single paragraph for term and definition? Or one paragraph for term and a second (indented?) one for definition?
With proper styling, your problem can be solved with fields in the header and footer (even if you want the last entry shown in the header).
For better advice, attach a 2-page sample.
PS: avoid using text boxes; they are “decoration” graphical objects which don’t cooperate easily with Writer text flow. In addition displaying something in the header while it is rooted in text will never cause repetition. To get repetition, the “something” must be rooted in the header, but then it has no obvious relation to text. The solution needs fields.
