New version for mac -- silicon or intel [can't record macros]

I have a 2019 macbook with intel cpu. macos Sequoia 15.3.2. I recently found that my LO version 24.8.3.2 (x86_64) can’t record macros as I used to in windows. Oracle Java 17.0.9 is installed with “enable macro recording (may be limited)” checked.

I got notification that a new version 24.8.6 is ready. In the download window for 24.8.6, I assumed that I should set “intel” (instead of the default silicon) and downloaded.

I don’t like to assume, especially when choosing an older version. Before I install and something gets fouled up, is there anything I need to do or check? In general and specifically for recording macros?

What does “may be limited” re. macro recording mean?

Macro recored does not workveverywhere, for example not in Base.
.
It does often not record everything. Sometimes steps are left out.
So you need to cgeck the generated code, if it will do what you wish.

On mac for me it doesn’t record at all in calc or writer, so there’s no code to check.

It worked all the time in windows, calc and writer. That value to me is now lost.
