Niggling issue with superscript followed by paragraph icon

See how in the 3d line, after the superscript text, the paragraph icon is shown as if it, too, is superscript? I don’t know if that’s even a logical possibility, but anyway, it seems there’s no way to ‘end’ the superscript tag that I can find. The superscript stays active until the end of the line. So far what I’ve been doing is as in line 1: I delete the superscript ‘3’, add my text ‘Uncorrected gas volume’ and then go back and insert another 3 and then superscript it again. Is there a better way to break out of the superscript? In an HTML editor what would happen is that if you had the cursor to the right of the superscript 3 and then pressed the right arrow once the cursor wouldn’t move, what would have happened is that the cursor would logically move past the superscript tag in the code, and then you’d have normal size again. Dunno, there can be deep logic reasons why a simple solution isn’t possible but it seems to me that the paragraph icon should be full size anyway.

Usual technical information missing: OS name, LO version and ssave format.

I bet you requested superscript with the toolbar button (direct formatting). This sets superscript. To stop it, you need to press the toolbar button again (depending on your GUI environment, the button shows either a depressed state or some other form of highlighting when enabled.

I remind you that the 3 formatting layers (paragraph style, character style and direct formatting) are independent from each other. What you set in one layer remains active until you disable it. And you have precedence rule: DF > CS > PS.

If you don’t want formatting “surprises”, don’t mix DF with styling.
