No Edit option in calc

Hi, I am new to spreadhseets and calc so please excuse my lack of knowledge. I have copied and pasted half the information from a Calc spreadsheet into a new spreadsheet but I am unable to edit the new one. I have read about clicking an “edit icon” but I don’t seem to have the icon. Can anyone help please? Thank you.

Why can’t you edit? What happens when you try? Hit the F2 key or click into the formula bar.

Thank you. I have no idea what was going on. Wondering now if it was just some weird glitch or maybe my elderly PC not up to the task as when I came back to it all was working properly and I was able to edit as normal. I had been trying to work that out for over an hour.

I have another question but a different topic. I am certain it is something simple for regulars users of calc but should I post a new question as another topic?
