When I select fill color for a cell, there are no colors. Standard shows up as the palette. I can scroll thru several palettes, and a second ‘Standard’ comes up, which I then select my desired color. However, the next time I want to fill a cell, it is again empty. I recently lost my user profile but I’ve never seen this before. What is the default fill palette?
LO Portable 7.2.2
Win 10
Thanks for any help.
The standard palette is standard.soc
.
On a normal installation in Windows 10 it is found in C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\share\palette
, this is outside the user folder so shouldn’t be affected by resetting the LibreOffice user profile at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user
.
It should remember your last choice of colour palette and offer that next time. I know it does that because I use a custom palette and have done for several years.
I suspect that your LO is not shutting down properly so does not remember the last setting or is otherwise unable to write the configuration file.
Close LO and try renaming one of the standard.soc files in palettes folder to standard.soc.old
, if that doesn’t change anything rename the other and revert the first. The standard.soc file is 10KB on my Windows computer.
This isn’t even between sessions. But I closed my calc file and confirmed the LO process is gone. Restarted and opened a new untitled file. Selected the Fill button, and standard was the default, with no colors. I then scrolled down and found another Standard, selected it, and filled a cell with a color. Then I selected the Fill button again, and once again the Standard palette was there with no colors.
I checked the palette directory and found several Standard files, with extensions soc, sod, soe, sog, soh, and sop(I’m guessing they’re for the different LO apps). I opened the .soc file and it was full of color data.
If I go back to 7.2.1.2, everything looks fine(and a lot fewer palettes to choose from). Note I have both portable versions installed in their own directory trees. Could this be a problem with 7.2.2 portable? I installed the multilingual standard version.
Maybe consider resetting LO user profile again. Reset to Factory default if you didn’t previously.
I don’t know what the other extensions are for, other colour palettes don’t have those matching files.
Well, that did it. This will be the third time re-tailoring my profile in as many days. I’m going to try and pull out a bunch of suspicious looking files (including a standard.soc) from the user\config folder. Any suggestions to help me to avoid starting from scratch again would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.
Edit: That seems to have ‘fixed’ it, at least for now. All those extra palettes are gone and the standard stays the default once I selected it. Let me know if you have any other suggestions as to what was happening. Thanks again.
The standard.soc in user\config is the culprit I’m sure; it shouldn’t be there.
If I add a copy to that location then I end up with two standard palettes as you describe.
