No uninstall option

I just upgraded from 4.2.2 to 5.2.7 because I hit a bug in 4.2.2 that causes LibreOffice to crash. Unfortunately 5.2.7 has not fixed this. However, I also discovered that 5.2.7 has changed the keyboard shortcuts - I can no longer insert a column in Calc by ALT-I-C. So I want to go back to 4.2.2. Since it’s unusual for installers to support a downgrade, I figured I’d best do a clean uninstall of V5 first, However, when I go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and click on the row for Libre Office, it only shows a Change button rather than the more common Change/Uninstall button. The Start menu folder for LibreOffice doesn’t have an uninstaller shortcut either. How am I supposed to uninstall this please?

BTW, this form is a royal pain in the ass - mandatory fields don’t tell you in advance that they’re mandatory (there’s a convention in web form design whereby you place a red asterisk beside mandatory fields), not only is the Tags field mandatory but it only accepts certain values (neither fact of which we are told in advance) and every time you make a mistake on a field you have to go through that bloody Captcha control again. Most people use Captcha when creating an account, or for extra security use it again when logging in. Forcing users to go through this pain every time they miss a field is total overkill. And I hate to think what sort of experience people who (rightly) disable JavaScript get. A cynic would conclude that you are trying to discourage people from asking for help, as though you’re afraid of anyone seeing that people can have problems with the product - this doesn’t do your image any good at all.

consider using the FREE glary utilities 5. they are better than MS @ removing programs. ken

In 5.2.7 go to Menu> Tools Customize... Then Keyboard. There you can attach a Shortcut key to a Function. I see under Functions Category Insert, Insert Columns Right and Insert Columns Left. You can assign these to a key combination of your choice by selecting the Shortcut key above and clicking the Modify button.

I really think trying to move forwards is much smarter than trying to stick with an older version. For one support for the older versions, even here, becomes near to impossible as everyone else has mostly moved to the newer versions.

I can’t speak to the windows uninstall issue you raised as I have moved from Windows to Linux, but I will say that all things windows have become so much of a pain since W10. For one my system just got so bogged down and slow. Linux is much faster and more fun, but it was a steep hill to climb with a significant learning curve for someone who has been w/ Microsoft OSs since MSDOS.

Please recognize that LO is a community effort, which means your assistance is expected. To this end there is a “give feedback” button at the bottom where you can suggest improvements to this Ask.LibreOffice.Org web site. Please suggest this asterisk idea, as I think it’s a good one.

I don’t know what’s going on w/ your captcha issue. I might have had to use it when I started using Ask.LO but I use Ask.LO every day and have never seen a captcha request that I can recall.

Take it easy, I know I have days when I am very frustrated with this technology, but I try to remember that everything is temporary. From my zen teacher.

Please try resetting the user profile, sometimes solves strange issues.

Usually it’s enough renaming/deleting the file “user/registrymodifications.xcu”, it affects all the options in Menu/Tools/Options, and the files “user/basic/dialog.xlc” and “scrip.xlc” are overwritten, additionally custom colors in “user/config/standard.soc” are lost.
