Number formatting with decimal comma

I’ve created a new format code: #,##" dl"

It works as expected when used with integers or formulas: “14” becomes “14 dl” and “=15/2” becomes “7,5 dl”.

The problem arises when I type a decimal value into the box. Like “1,5”. The expected result is “1,5 dl”, but what I get is “###”.

Why is that?

‘###’ normally indicates that the column is not wide enough to display the contents; try widening the column and see what happens. You may find an error code.

Facepalm… lots of agitation over a simple mistake.

Thanks.
