Number with percent sign is not recognized as number by Libre Office Calc

Hello,

Here is a strange problem. I have numbers as this: 13.7 %, coppied from other applications. Please note the space between the number and the percent sign.

Libre Office Calc won’t regognize such data as numbers and I can’t find a way how to tell it to do so. If I delete the space between the number and the percent sign manualy, the data are properly regognized as numbers. The problem is, I have a lot of such data.

Is there a way to solve this frustrating problem?

Edit: I forgot that these information may be important in a world too far from ideal:

OS: Open Suse 15.5
Libre Office version 7.4.3.2

Hallo
Please update your question with a copy from →Help→About Libreoffce:

What information is necessary? The installation is on another computer, currently not connected to the internet.

Your Locale-settings?
which Decimal-seperator ( dot or comma )?

Locate: en_US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US

Dot is used as decimal separator.

The space separator causing trouble is a “non-breaking space”. Use find/replace to substitute a normal space, or nothing, where those spaces are.

  • Edit one “offending” cell (function key F2)
  • Select the space between number and percent, and nothing else, and copy (ctrl+C)
  • Select menu item Edit - Find and replace …
  • Paste the copied space into the Search: box. (ctrl+V)
  • Type a normal space into the Replace: box
  • Click button Replace all

Your percentages should now show as proper numbers. If not:
Sometimes you need to do a simple copy/paste after the replace. If required, select entire column and push ctrl+C, then ctrl+V.
