I have a writer document and want to use outmatic numbering to Number my Illustrations using the captions feature.
This works fine, but the numbers are in order of image/illustration added not in the order the illustrations appear in the document.
I’d like the Illustration on page 1 to have Number 1 and the next illustration 2 and so on.
Any ideas how to achieve this?
The caption frames are achored as character, but this doesn’t resolve the issue

In my environment the numbering follows the order of appearance in the document. On the other hand, the update is not automatic if I reorder the images. The update is done by Tools▸Update▸Fields

I assume this should work, but doesnt in my current document. it does work though in a blank document
This is my Workaround if Tools▸Update▸Fields does not work.
if some of your images or other objects are numbered correctly you can just copy and paste that Number (fieldvalue)
in order to give your object the correct number. this is not pretty but it solved my issue.
Probably your Number Range is messed up. You can define a new one and use that instead:
