Offline help can't be opened although it's installed + versions fit

Hello,

I want to use the offline-help with LibreOffice Version v7.5.5.2. For that I downloaded the file “LibreOffice_7.5.5_Win_x86-64_helppack_de.msi”. The installation went fine but I keep getting the online-help when I press F1 for an in German entered formular. Furthermore I noticed that the online-help doesn’t open the help page of the specific keyword/function but just a general page where I still have to look-up the function myself.

What could cause this? Restarting LibreOffice after the installation of the offline-help didn’t help and I found no option to enable the offline-help so it looks like it should be active by default after installation.

The document I created is set to German and my LibreOffice UI is German as well. I’m using Windows 11.

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,

Nevermind, the offline help looks completely identical to the online help and I didn’t notice that it opens a local file:// link. So the offline-help does work for me now but it just opens file:///[...]/help/de/text/scalc/main0000.html?System=WIN&DbPAR=CALC&HID=SC_HID_SC_WIN_GRIDWIN#bm_id3155335 which points me to an overview page, not to the page for the specific function. How can I change this? I would have expected that I get this page open: file:///[...]/help/de/text/scalc/01/func_sum.html?DbPAR=CALC#id431636401649762 when I type =SUMME() to call the sum function.

Nobody has an idea? Maybe this is a bug? Then I would report it in the proper bugtracker. Thanks for helping!

I’m having the same problem. Installed LibreOffice_25.2.0_Win_x86-64_helppack_en-US after installing LibreOffice_25.2.0_Win_x86-64, but there is no “offline help,” nor can the offline help be opened as a separate application.

25.2.0.__?

Is the UI language “en-US”? Look at menu Help - About LibreOffice (can share here these info).
You downloaded both installers from the LibreOffice Download page? At the same time/day?

Thank you for the reply, Leroy. Yes, downloaded LibreOffice application and help from same page on the same day/time ( Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free and private office suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft), for Windows 64-bit. Is there no way to launch the offline help system? You had written: “If you are starting with LibreOffice, don’t start with the 25.2 version, The 24.8.4 is more stable (I am working with the 24.2.7.2 (the last release of 24.2 version).” The web page states 25.2 is stable. Given my experience (and your statement) I can’t help but wonder whether LibreOffice is reliable. I’ve used Office for decades. That product has deteriorated. I’m looking for something I can trust to be reliable.

What it means stable?

24.8.4 cannot access the help system, the same as 25.2. I’ve gone back to 25.2, which supposedly is an improvement. Software development quality control practices haven’t improved since software was invented, just new generations of clowns get into the business.

LibreOffice 24.8 uses 24.x help
LibreOffice 25.2 uses 25.x help, that is a different help installation
.

There is a release plan for LibreOffice, some releases will contain more bug fixes (mostly those within a major release number) than enhancements. Both bug fixes and enhancements come with the risk of creating problems for some or all users. I like to check out the new releases but my work is usually done in a version several releases old, unless there is something new that I can’t live without.
.

One major plus is that documents created in one version generally look the same across different versions and operating systems, unlike MS Office.
