Opening LibreOffice documents on iPad

Opening my iPad’s Files App, I click on an .odt or .ods file that I created with NeoOffice on my Mac. The files open with Word or Excel. I want to open them with OOReader or some other application that doesn’t require subscriptions.

What do I need to do?

Collabora Office is a major contributor to LibreOffice, Collabora Office for Android & iOS - Collabora Office and Collabora Online

You could try them, ‎Collabora Office on the App Store

Collabora Office appears to work well, but I still don’t know how to tell PadOS to make it the default app when I click on an .odt or .ods file.

I don’t have iPad but it seems it doesn’t allow for default apps to be changed by users. You could try the workaround here, How to change app to “Open in” in Files on iPadOS? - #16 by cheekyjeremy - Tech Support - MPU Talk

I wasn’t figuring out how to comment, thanks. I found the solution, it is complex and unintuitive (drop down menu with “share”?). But it appears to work.

Again, thanks.
