Opening to last document on firing up LO Writer

As suggested elsewhere, I have complied with the following -

  • Complete the fields for Forename/Surname/Initials in Tools > Options LibreOffice > User Data > Address.
  • Tick the box for “Use data for document properties”.
  • Tick the box for “Apply user data” in File > Properties > General.

Under File > Properties > General, the date/time and user name is visible for both “Created” and “Modified”.

Despite all this, on firing up Writer, I still get a blank page. I expect to be taken to the last edit on the last document worked on. What am I missing?

edit > this is when firing up from the Systray. It obviously works if directly firing up the document.

You must use the LibreOffice icon (on the Windows aplications menu), to access the start center, from there you will see the recently opened documents.

  • If you use the LibreOffice Writer icon, a blank document is always created, and to access the latest opened document you will have to use menu File > Recent documents.

The configuration you explain is to go at point where you last edited the document when you open it.

Hi, bantoniof. Thanks for the quick reply. I assume the simple option I was looking for isn’t possible. In which case, it’s easier to pin the document to the Writer icon and select using a right click (or add a shortcut to the Desktop). But what a faff. For whatever reason, it’s not possible to pin the doc to the Office icon.
