Page numbers wrong after inserting pages into document

I am currently editing a document that has page numbers.

I am copying text from elsewhere and inserting iit into the document, but when I do so the added pages do not have a page number. When I try to add page numbers to the footer they start again at 1.

So if I insert a page after page 16, it will say page 1 at the bottom.

How do I make the whole document share the same pagination?

Almost Impossible to answer without any knowledge of

• from where (application) you copied what (formatted text?) and
• how you inserted that (just CTRL+V which may have inserted in new page styles having no numbering)

My 5ct guess: If you copy and paste using Edit -> Paste Special -> Paste Unformatted Text this doesn’t happen.

(Styles Manager View -> Styles or F11 is your friend - Click the Page Styles icon, and move the cursor to any page of you document and see which page style gets highlighted)

Check the page styles and assign the same page style to all pages which should share the same page numbering

Start page numbering of a new page style with 17 (if you want/need to keep imported page styles)
