Having used Libre successfully for some time, I now find the page size for a new text document is considerably narrower than previously, and there seems no obvious way to expand it. Can anyone explain why tyhis has changed and how I can change it.
Please, edit your question to tell us which size is reported by Format
>Page Style
If this is your intended page size, then it is only a display issue. In the window bottom-right corner, you have the current zoom factor. Either drag the slider or right-click on the zoom factor.
As usual, mention your OS name and LO version.
Please, edit your question to make it “self-sufficient” and spare users the pain to follow a conversation. This is not a forum but a Question&Answer site. So, better make the pages as short as possible.
Thank you for your reply.
I am using Windows 10 and LO 7.1.
The Format > Page > Style settings are the same as for previous documents I have created, i.e. 21.00 cm width and 29.70 cm height, but as of today I have a much narrower page image, and the result is that I cannot easily read what I write. There is no “slider” or “zoom factor” in the bottom-right corner of the document, or anywhere else that I can see.
Perhaps you could tell me where to find them.
As a new user of this site, I apologise for not being quite as practised in its conventions and use as you seem to wish, so I’m afraid I don’t know what making my question “self-sufficient” means.
I hope I have clarified the situation somewhat.
Activate the bottom status bar with View
>Status Bar
.
By “self-sufficient” (don’t know if this word exists in English as I am not a native speaker) I mean a user needs only read the question to grasp all its element. This is opposed to reading all the thread(s) below it as is usual in a forum where you can’t edit a previous question or answer.
Here you just press the “pencil” icon below the relevant contribution to edit it.
Thank you for this. The View > Status Bar reveals the slider and I am now able to expand the page image.
“Self sufficient” is a perfectly good English expression and looking back at my original post, I simply described my problem. What could be more “self-sufficient” than that?
I appreciate your time and your assistance.
Additional information would have pointed into the right direction: page size as reported from Format
>Page Style
(and whether it was as expected) because there are many possible page sizes to accommodate common stationery. I’ll make my comment an anwser so that you can mark it for community benefit.
LO, not just Writer, allows to zoom in and out the screen view so that an author can judge the overall presentation.
Zoom control is located at right in the “status bar”. This status bar is displayed at bottom of window. If not visible, it is enabled with View
>Status Bar
.
Display control is made of (from left to right):
- zoom factor (right-click to change)
- zoom slider (drag to change)
- page view mode: single page, multiple pages (number depending on zoom factor), book view (where left pages are displayed on left side and right pages on right side)
Thank you for clarifying this matter.
