How do I paste an image into a text document? When I select the image, copy it, and then attempt to paste it into the document, all I get is an empty space with the word “image” in it. I have read the L.O. instructions and followed them and I still do not have anything but a square with the image name and nothing else. I’m trying to paste in the PDF of the cover art for my novel that I’m publicizing. I need help. Thanks so much. What am I missing?
Enable View
>Images & Charts
.
Or, to make this configuration permanent, go to Tools
>Options
, LibreOffice Writer
>View
, Display section and tick Images & Objects box.
For an accurate answer, always mention OS name, LO version and save format when asking here.
Bless you. Problem solved. Thank you so much. I did not know about those commands.

Rather than paste images, it is much better to click Insert > Image. This will insert the image in its original format, e.g. jpg.
If you paste an image, it will be saved as png which does not lose any colour information but can add significantly to file size compared with jpg.
