PC fans working hard by opening libreoffice with kubuntu

Processors: 8xIntel Core i7-9700K CPU 3.60Ghz
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM
Libreoffice: Version: 6.4.7.2
Build ID: 1:6.4.7-0ubuntu0.20.04.1
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: kf5;

Problem: Every time that I use Libreoffice the fans of the PC accelerate to maximum speed and working very hard. it ONLY happens with LibreOffice.

Solution?

1. “Does this also happen if you restart LibreOffice in Safe Mode (Help → Restart in Safe Mode)?” NO
2. "SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice - Does the issue occur as well ? NO
3. General question: Have you ever completely removed LibreOffice from your Ubuntu 20.04 based system after inital install?"IT IS A NEW INSTALLATION ON A NEW PC, I MONTH OLD.΅

Solution?

Every solution has one prerequisite called “problem determination” or “root cause analysis”. This has not been done yet. Hence you need to perform a few tests to track down the issue:

**LibreOffice user profile causing the issue - Safe Mode**

Does this also happen if you restart LibreOffice in Safe Mode (Help -> Restart in Safe Mode)?

**Visual Class Library causing the issue**

• Open a terminal
• Execute SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice

Does the issue occur as well ?

**General question:** Have you ever completely removed LibreOffice from your Ubuntu 20.04 based system after inital install?

thanks for the feedback - according to answer “1. Does this also happen if you restart LibreOffice in Safe Mode (Help → Restart in Safe Mode)? NO” the following procedure should fix your problem:

• Start LibreOffice
• Start in Safe Mode using Help -> Restart in Safe Mode and confirm the restart using button: Restart
• Archive your profile expanding Advanced (click on the word Advanced right above Help button) and click Archive User Profile button
• Select option Reset to factory settings
• Activate [x] Reset entire user profile
• Click button Apply Changes and Restart

It that really doesn’t help try:

• Start LibreOffice
• Start in Safe Mode using Help -> Restart in Safe Mode and confirm the restart using button: Restart
• Select option [o] Configure
• Activate [x] Disable hardware acceleration (...)
• Click button Apply Changes and Restart
