PDF/A-4 missing for Exporting PDF

Am I not seeing it or is the PDF/A-4 archival standard missing? My organization is moving towards A-4 for long term data storage as the documents are becoming larger and more complex, A-4 replaces all the conformity levels and ensures unicode mapping on all levels.

I also could not find PDF/A-3a and u conformity level options.

Thanks.

What LibreOffice version do you have?

Through Menu/Export as PDF - General - Archive (Pdf/A, ISO 29005) - select the PDF/A version.

LibreOffice version 7.4.1.2 x64.

I did go through those settings but can only see 3 options

Sorry, I was thinking in PDF/3

I see.

Is the option not available in LibreOffice at the moment or can I just not find it?

You can add your request for enhancement, ‘Create a bug report’ Feedback | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft

I see.

Thank you.

A virtual PDF printer that meets your expectations might be a good work-around. A virtual printer generates files instead of paper. Any application able to print something can print to a virtual PDF printer.
I don’t know which one can generate PDF/A-4.

Does Microsoft Print to PDF do the job?

I don’t know. No Windows here. A quick search came up with:

Unfortunately, Windows doesn’t come with a print to PDF option, so users still need a separate PDF printer program when they want to print files to PDF.

Interesting, it does on my computer.

Interesting indeed. Can it generate A-4?
What are the options when you click “Properties…”?

Unfortunately, the properties only have options for paper size and orientation.

I have filed an enhancement request. Hopefully someone will pick it up.

Thank you for your time.

For the benefit of others looking: PDF/A-4 was added late in 2024. In an online version of LibreOffice from Collabora it now shows these options: PDF 1.7, PDF 2.0, PDF/A-1b, PDF/A-2b, PDF/A-3b and PDF/A-4.

For LibreOffice, it will be on 25.8
