PDF file to Libreoffice

Hi,

I converted a pdf file, around 500 pages, to libreoffice Draw.
The result shows that the sentences are longer, with additional spaces, hence until outside the margin.
How to fix this issue?

Regards,

If you only wanted to change some text fragments or to correct mistakes there are other tools to do that (e.g. masterPDF). These tools can retain the original layout better.
Thanks to @ajlittoz for his excellent explanation.

You can’t really fix it. The original file uses font not available on your computer and when the PDF was made, the fonts were not embedded in the file. The author made the assumption that the fonts were universally installed and didn’t require embedding of the used glyphs.

PDF is a page description format. This means it contains a “graphical” representation of every page. Text has been sliced in homogeneous (formatting-wise) sequences which are x,y-positioned in the page. If the original font is not present, a fallback one is used but its metrics is usually not the same, resulting in sequences either too narrow, or too wide compared to the source document.

Since the PDF no longer contains any formatting directives, your only way to fix the issue is to install the fonts, provided they are not proprietary and available for your OS.
