I suggest to never complicate bug reporting. My point above was about that: what good it is to post a problem to some place before posting to another? You do work twice; others do work twice, for no good reason.
But searching for duplicates when filing a bug is IMO just another waste of time. Usually bugs are named in such a way that it’s not easy to understand if that’s your problem, or not. I suggest to just go forward and file your bug, and triagers would finally mark it as a duplicate (and that serves two good goals: a bug is not lost just because user had to do too much preliminary work and gave up; and if duplicate, the original bug gets more weight by increasing dupe count).
