Print Preview In Calc shows all data from original creation. I have added additional data since creation. The new data does not show when I use Print Preview at this time.
You have defined a print range previously. There some things you could do depending on your requirements:
- Click Format > Print Ranges > Edit and redefine your current print range
- Select the new data and click Format > Print Ranges > Add, this will print the new data on a second page. Depending on future use and how you have set up your print range settings, e.g. with repeating headings, you might want that.
- Click Format > Print Ranges > Clear. This will clear the previous print ranges and allow Calc to decide what you want printed. For a simple spreadsheet where you want everything printed this might be simplest.
Hi Earnest Al,
Many thanks for replying. I tried all three suggestions but none worked. No. 2 printed the basic column outline on page 2 but without the data. I’d appreciate any further suggestions.
John
I don’t think you did the first point correctly if you didn’t print what you wanted it to.
Try this then. Select the area you want to print then click Format - Print Range - Define
Select a non-printing cell and click Format > Cells select the tab Cell Protection, is the box Hide when printing ticked? If it is then unhide all the non-printing cells.
Hi,
I did try the Format-Print Range-Define but no luck. I may have a computer problem. I am using the latest version.
John
What about the cell set to non-printing?
BTW “latest version” means nothing in terms of saying what version you have
I did try the procedure as advised but no luck. I suspect a computer problem. I am using the latest version of LibreOffice.
It was ticked but the situation continued after unticking.
That was a test to see if that was set. Select the whole range, click Format - Cells and untick that box.
Possibly tick it, OK, then untick it and OK
Todays event. I outlined what I want printed. I clicked on Format>Cells. Guess what? The Hide All and Hide When Printing boxes contained a black square (all four). I clicked on one and the black square disappeared. I then checked print preview and guess what? The missing numbers showed in Print Preview. However, totals in the new area would not display numbers only ### and in some cases part of the summing formula. This is a start.
By the way I’m using LibreOffice version 7.4.5.1.
The ###
just means the columns are too narrow, widen them
At this time formulas are showing but no results. I have a picture made using SnagIt. How do I upload it?
I forgot to mention in my reply of a couple of minutes ago that I added the latest update, 7.4.6.2, but the problem still exists.
Click View - Show Formula (Ctrl+`) to unhighlight it. You probably don’t need to widen the columns.
This string of issues shows the problem of not giving a sample file to inspect. There were two settings that are not default and must have been set by someone. Show Formula could be an accidental key combination but setting cells as non-printing is a deliberate choice.
Hi,
It didn’t work. The only time the formulae are showing is when I use Print Preview. Did I mention that items not created by a formula are displaying now.
Hi,
I think I forgot to mention that I did not set cells as non-printing. Certainly not deliberatly. I rarely make changes to the underlying settings.
Third non-default setting. Does anyone else share your laptop/data?
Click Format > Page Style, click on the tab labelled Sheet and, under Print, untick Formulae
Hi,
That last suggestion, unticking Formulae, seemed to do it. The numbers came back into view. Everything seems to be ok. I haven’t a clue how Formulae became a ticked item. Many thanks for your help and patience.
