Printer problems with new release

I no longer can print LibreOffice spreadsheets on my HP printer. HP has updated all my drivers in windows 11 and all other types of documents both within LibreOffice and outside documents have no problems.

Some thoughts

  • Click Start menu > Power > Restart to reboot (not Shut Down, that defaults to Hibernate).
  • If you click File > Print preview do you see a preview of what you expect? Check the print range in Format > Print ranges > Edit
  • If you saved the spreadsheet after the last time you printed it then the name of the printer has been saved in the file. If the update changed the name of the printer then you might need to select the correct name from the Printer field in the Print dialogue. If that is the case, go to Start menu > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners click on any printer names that are no longer valid and click Remove.
  • In Start menu > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners open the printer queues to see if the documents are waiting in the queue.

I use print preview and get the worksheet, but nothing gets to the queues. My workaround is to copy the sheet I want to print and paste it to a blank text document and I can print from there but I lose a lot of flexibility. This started happening after the latest version was downloaded.

I’d suggest to export to pdf, then print the pdf as workaround.
.

Have you tried to “print” to pdf? MS has a to+pdf printer available in Windows. Ic this is possible you may try (again?)

One last point:

Sorry, that is a useless “information”, as it depends on your install/config/online days etc.

The workaround of exporting to pfd works. Thanks.

What is the model of the printer?
How is it connected, Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet, USB?
Have you tried running the HP Print and Scan Doctor Diagnose & Fix utility from HP?

Printer is HP Deskjet 2855e and is six months old. I use Bluetooth to print. I have had many sessions with HP techs into my computer and updated their drivers. I have no trouble printing e-mails and all else that is not LibreOffice.

Check with Microsoft Print to PDF for testing purposes.

Check the page size in the LibreOffice printer dialogue in case the printer is waiting for you to load the “correct” paper. See Bug 168759 - Printing: changing printer changes page size

Thanks , the problem was in the print dialog box

Thanks, the problem was in the print dialog box.

I feel like a fool since my whole problem was in the print dialog box all along. When the printer people were trying to fix my printer problem they deleted my printer “Desk Jet 2800e All-in-one printer series” to “Desk Jet 2800e” without my knowledge. Thus, when I was trying to print it couldn’t find the printer because my LibreOffice files were pointing to the non-existing printer.
I would like to apologize to LibreOffice and all of you for wasting your time but your suggestions led me to the solutions. Thanks to all.

Go to Start menu > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the old device and then click Remove. You will probably want to do it for the fax printer driver too.

That was my problem. The other printer was removed but it still was on the drop down menu when I tried to print. I am good now. Thanks!
