Current status: Dragon NaturallySpeaking 13, writer 5.0.5.2, Windows 8.1 Pro, “support assistive technology tools” checked in options.
I can dictate into a writer document via Dragon’s dictation box mechanism that simulates a control-V. However, Dragon cannot search and modify text in the Writer document, as it can with MS office and WordPad and even text boxes like this one in my browser (Firefox). I have followed various trails in similar questions to [https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69039#c5] from September 2013 which alludes to the possibility of using a hypothetical new standard API “in the not too distant future.” Does anyone know if some near-future version of Writer will have better integration of dictation software, particularly Dragon?
