If I did this correctly, these are screen snips that show what I am asking.
I was using the form tool under data on the menu bar. I made a mistake while entering data into the form, and made several entries before noticing. I went back to fix the error and there was no longer a formula in the cell so I had to go back the begining of the column enter the formula and paste it into 500 plus cells. Why did this happen
