Question is to do with Printing in Calc

Hi
I have a problem I cannot solve when trying to set up print ranges in Calc.
This refers to Printing two separate areas of the same sheet.
I can select the first print area in the sheet as normal.
Then using FORMAT/PRINT RANGE/DEFINE
Then by going to the NAME BOX and Manage Names, I can Set up the Name /Range /Scope all OK
I then oo ADD and OK. Then when I go back to the Name Box and select the one created all is OK.

If I then want to create a second Print range on the same sheet, I can do this exactly as above and create that range and When I check it, it is all ok.

Now my problem arises when I go to print or print preview.

Now although my selections are OK, ONLY the SECOND Selection can be printed or previewed.
Doesn’t matter what I do I cannot get around this.

I also use Lotus.123 spread sheet. I can do the same operation there and it works fine.

But I want to change to using LO Calc.

Can anyone help with this problem.
Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Thank you very much for your reply. How ever your answer does not fully solve the issue.
I tried what you suggested but it selected the two areas and printed them both. Unfortunately I require one in portrait and one in landscape and I cannot do it that way.
The reason for using the name box is the in all there are 9 sheets (which are singles) and 3 that have the 2 areas on them. With defining the print areas the 9 sheets can be printed correctly. However the sheets that have 2 areas on can be defined and when selected show up correctly. But when I come to print, the first area prints the Second areas page and when I select and print the second areas page it also prints the Second areas page. So there seems to be no way of printing the First areas page even though it selects and is shown as defined.
I hope this is clearer. IT IS A PRINTING AREA problem rather than a SECTION AREA problen.
Many thanks for any replies again.

Hi

First, it is not necessary to go through the management of Names to define the print ranges. Set one (several) name(s) is only a facility for identifying ranges when using FormatPrint RangesDefine.

E.g. to define two (or more) printing areas:

  • Select the first range▸FormatPrint RangesDefine (this replaces any previous definition)
  • Select the second range▸FormatPrint RangesAdd

Then with FormatPrint RangesEdit you get something like: $A$1:$B$7;$A$15:$B$19 where the 2 ranges are separated by ; (or may be another separator if depending on “locale” (linguistic settings)

Of course you can also directly select ranges with this dialog (using the Shrink button on the right)
