Recent gallery

I notice that recents will show the document I am trying to convert, but when I save it to desktop, oftentimes the recent document is perfect, yet the saved document is missing some data. Is there a way to move the recent to the desktop? The recent eg would show a text box yet the saved file would not show it.

This board is terribly confusing…don’t know what tags it wants. Frustrated

Thanks

If you save in a non-ODF format such as .docx it is likely that objects that aren’t supported in that format won’t be saved the way you expect.

Always save in native format, e.g. .odt, .ods, etc.

So, even though I can see the document in “RECENTS” with its text box pic, I can’t get it to save to desktop? I thought I originally created this in WORD, but the file is saying text edit the I get info on the file.
Thanks

I wanted to add a couple of pics but don’t know how. I double clicked on the doc in question and got the “Object0” as the text box. When I double clicked this I got the pic I was interested in (all in Libre). Now just how to copy that pic to the document with the “Object0” empty text box

I GOT IT!
Simply go to view menu and select tables and charts…it put the text box right where it should be and saved as an out file

That’s great that you have resolved your problem. There are a couple of points that might help you in the future

  • If there is a picture inside
something then the something is a
Frame. A text box can contain text only,
    it cannot accept a picture.
  • Nothing is saved to Recent, it is just a list of shortcuts to files created recently from LO. If the file is moved by a file manager, the shortcut will point to nothing
  • If you ask a question try to be clear what the problem is. If you had said that you couldn’t see
a picture the question could have
    been answered immediately.

Anyway, that you resolved it yourself shows that you will probably learn quickly the best ways of using LO. Don’t forget that the user guides can be very helpful. Cheers, Al
