Recurrant Writer freeze

In Writer, when I’m editing a document over a couple of hours or more, I will sometimes experience a complete lock-up of my Acer laptop, an Aspire ES-511-COPC. I’ve been helping a friend by occasionally editing selected pages over a three year period, so the peculiar circumstances of crashing seem to occur after several hours of work, and, usually, a period of rest. It has happened probably seven or eight times over that time frame. The crashes have followed through various upgrades in both Win 10 and LibreOffice, and the crash-recovery built into the suite has restored my work with no fuss every time; but still, I would like the interruptions to stop.
Anyone?

What happens when Windows is sitting, not being used? The indexing system kicks in, which I think swaps data in and out of memory. I would be inclined to run Memtest from a boot disk to do a thorough check of memory (RAM)
