Remove Footnote Separator Broken?

I want to remove the black footnote separator line (as most style guides recommend it should be omitted).

The recommended way of doing this is:

Format – Page – Footnote – Thickness

Thickness is set to 0.0pt then the separator line should disappear.

However LibreOffice 4.0.2 (OSX) does not allow you to set 0.0pt as the thickness. When you try it automatically reverts to a minimum of 0.25pt, and the line remains.

I think this is a bug because Oo allows one to change the thickness to 0.0pt. Any suggestions?

Bug FDO#36722 describes this problem and offers a workaround solution (set the length to 0%). Bug FDO#63462 appears to be a duplicate, even though it is a different platform.
